In 2013, New York City FC was established with a fundamental goal: to proudly represent the greatest city in the world. A city of sheer ambition and grit, yet welcoming to all.

As we embark on our 10th season of play, we’ve laid the foundations of this football club together: on the pitch, we’ve seen successes capped by our 2021 MLS Cup and 2022 Campeones Cup victories, and in our community we’ve helped to grow the game from its most grassroots level with 50 mini-pitches and counting.

As we look to the next decade and beyond, with a FIFA World Cup in our backyard and our new proposed stadium in Willets Point, we recognize the need to evolve and keep improving to meet this historic moment.

With your input and support, we’re writing the next chapter of New York City FC.

We at the Club began this process over a year ago, involving our fans from the start. City Members, Supporters and staff were all brought in as part of a thorough conversation about what New York City FC is and should be.

We then enlisted the best creative partners in the business – Interbrand and Gretel – all of whom are based right here in New York City. Our goal was to simultaneously build on the strengths of the existing visual identity of the Club, while thoroughly examining each element and exploring new ways that they can uniquely channel the colossal character, unapologetic spirit, and wild mix of these five boroughs.

NOMENCLATURE

NOMENCLATURE

While we heard a range of opinions in our discussions, the one central theme that ran through it all was that the Club should always be a reflection of New York City. As such, you’ll see that we now proudly refer to our club as New York City FC.

COLORS

COLORS

Our primary club colors remain core to who we are, refined to be sharper and brighter than before.

We also turned to the dynamic environment and symbolism of New York City to guide the introduction of our supporting colors.

THE MOSAIC

THE MOSAIC

New York City is itself an assemblage of countless stories, cultures and backgrounds all coming together to build something bigger than the sum of of their individual parts. The mosaic patterns are born from this same idea, underpinned by a singular tessellation of the streets of each of the five boroughs.

TYPE

TYPE

We are proud to introduce a new, proprietary family of typefaces designed by Tobias Frere-Jones and Nina Stössinger of Frere-Jones Type, inspired by the unique letterforms of the pre-unification New York City Subway.

ICONOGRAPHY

ICONOGRAPHY

Supporting the new typefaces is an iconographic system designed to capture the energy and spirit of the world’s game as played in the world’s city.
