As the last international break of the 2017 MLS season takes hold, let’s take a look at some of NYCFC’s most impressive stats so far…

100: NYCFC defender Alexander Callens has played 100% of the minutes so far… that’s 32 starts and a total of 2,800 minutes. The Peruvian ironman will look to keep the streak going when NYCFC returns to action vs. New England Revolution on Sunday October 15.

20 x 2: Captain David Villa is a goal scoring machine the likes of MLS has yet to see.  This statement was backed up when DV7 became the first player in MLS history to score 20+ goals in back to back MLS regular seasons. How high can he go? Chicago’s Nemanja Nikolic currently leads the Golden Boot race at 21 goals. With two games remaining – David certainly has his first golden shoe on American soil in his sights.

54.1%: The average percent possession for Patrick Vieira’s Boys in Blue so far. 2017 has been a year where the playing style of NYCFC has grown to be one of the most defined in the league – and this statistic tells us possession and touching the ball is at the heart of it.

4.1: The amount of tackles per game defensive midfield stalwart Alexander Ring is averaging thus far in 2017 – the most of any MLS player that has started at least 20 games so far this season.

7: Sean Johnson’s clean sheet tally so far this year – good enough for a club record with two games to spare. Big performances away to Orlando, Red Bulls, and LA stand out.

Keep an eye on the numbers as NYCFC enter the playoffs and look to make a run at MLS Cup 2017.
