It’s been a hugely impressive week of international action for three NYCFC Academy talents.
Giovanni Reyna, James Sands and Joseph Scally have all been donning the stars and stripes across the globe and enjoying success.
Reyna and Scally were both instrumental members of the US U-15 squad which will bring home the Torneo Della Nazioni title from Italy after they defeated England 2-1 in Monday’s final.
Both NYCFC players weighed in with the goals to seal a comeback victory for Dave van den Bergh’s side following a remarkable campaign.
After advancing from a group containing England, Russia and Slovenia with a 2-1-0 record, the U.S U-15s defeated Portugal 4-2 in the semifinals.
Monday’s final saw them meet England once again and they took revenge on the Three Lions, coming back from a goal down to win, thanks to Scally’s equalizer and Reyna’s winning goal.
Sands is still representing U.S U-17s in their CONCACAF U-17 Championships campaign where they have advanced to the Classification Stage thanks to three wins in three games in Panama.
The NYCFC youngster, who joined the first-team on preseason, has started all three wins against Mexico, Jamaica and El Salvador, giving them a perfect 3-0-0 record.
John Hackworth’s boys face Honduras in the Classification Stages on Wednesday in a match you can watch on the CONCACAF YouTube channel at 4.30pm ET.
