Jason Hernandez has been an integral piece of the NYCFC defense all season long. Having started and played in all 15 games, the 32-year old has recorded 49 interceptions along with 26 tackles. Jason has also received just one yellow card throughout his 2016 campaign.
Hernandez has logged 1,350 minutes on the pitch this season, to go with an MLS Team of the Week selection in Week 11. Against the Portland Timbers on May 16th, the New York City native tallied 5 blocks, one denying Portland from taking an early 1-0 lead. Hernandez has 19 total blocks on the year thus far, and has proven to be a quality distributor of the ball, completing 84% of his passes. Jason Hernandez was selected to MLS team of the Week for Week 11.
If Hernandez was ever stuck on a deserted island he would take teammate Josh Saunders, he enjoys listening to the Baha Men and he can do a mean Pirlo impression.
