New York City FC midfielder Andrea Pirlo has been called up to the Italy National Team for a pair of EURO 2016 Qualifiers, the Italian Football Federation announced today.
Italy, who sit second in Group H with 12 points, play Malta at 2:45 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 3 in Florence. The Azzurri play Bulgaria three days later at 2:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 6 in Palermo.
Pirlo, who signed with New York City FC from Juventus on July 6, has six appearances (five starts) and two assists for the Club.
New York City FC are on a bye Labor Day Weekend and return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 12 at FC Dallas.
