Andres Jasson believes he is ready to step up and make a major contribution to the first team with New York City Football Club.
Jasson signed his first professional contract with NYCFC in 2020 following a successful spell with the Club's academy. His MLS debut arrived in 2021 against D.C. United, with the youngster clocking up just 1220 MLS Regular Season minutes to date.
The Connecticut native has already registered three appearances under Nick Cushing this season and is keen to earn more regular minutes on the field.
"I think with a team like us, especially when there are so many players with quality in front of you it is definitely difficult to break in," Jasson said.
"I think this year I've been doing really well in training. I feel confident. I feel I'm at the levels, I just need to take that last step and really breakthrough."
He went onto add: "I think I can provide stuff like working hard and running; I think I have a really good engine to run and ability to work hard for the team for an entire game and I think that's advantageous for certain games in certain scenarios.
"I think the only way you can really cement yourself in the team is by creating and providing goals and assists, which is the toughest part of the game.
"The players that we've had in the past that have played every game like Taty Castellanos, that's what they gave every game you know: goals, assists chances.
"I think as a forward that's what you aim to do. It's difficult, but that's what you want to aim for. Obviously, it's not going to come every game at the beginning, but it shouldn't be the goal to you know, contribute on that end.
The 21-year-old also revealed his excitement at returning to Yankee Stadium this weekend as part of a three-game home-stretch starting with the visit of Atlanta United this weekend.
"I think that was a really good result on the road against New England," he said.
"Especially at the end of the game. I think we were the team pushing and trying to get the win. I think we felt good in New England and we can carry that momentum into three home games.
"I think we feel really comfortable and we love playing at home in front of our fans, and generally we have been able to get really good results.
"I think getting that momentum into these home games can really help us make a push in the Eastern Conference to get towards the top."
