The 2016 AT&T MLS All-Star Game will pit the best of Major League Soccer against English Premier League giants Arsenal. The English club, participating in the MLS All-Star Game for the first time, will face off against the MLS All-Stars at Avaya Stadium, home to the San Jose Earthquakes.
This season, New York City FC’s Andrea Pirlo and Captain David Villa will be part of the Starting XI, as selected by the fans. This will be Pirlo’s first MLS All-Star game while David Villa returns for the second time. Last year, Villa scored off an assist from Kaka, leading the MLS side to a 2-1 victory over English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Andrea Pirlo stated, “I am very happy to be here at the All-Star game.” Pirlo, who has one goal and eight assists this season, will start alongside Villa, who was selected through the AT&T/EA SPORTS “More Than a Vote” Challenge. In a close contest, Villa, the current MLS leading scorer, took the top prize as fans scored more than 800,000 goals with the NYCFC Captain in EA SPORTS FIFA.
Villa added, “I am so proud to represent NYCFC in this amazing game. I think it is one of the best moments of the year.”
