Villa had a pair of goals -- his third brace in four matches -- as New York City FC drew 4-4 with Toronto FC on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. The captain's first goal of the match was a 19-yard free kick from the corner of the box that found the inside of the near post. It was the second consecutive match Villa scored off a free kick.
The Designated Player also scored on a penalty kick in the 65th minute to increase his Club-leading goal tally to 10. Villa is one of three players in MLS to have double-digit goals this season, joining the Columbus Crew's Kei Kamara (12) and Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco (11).
Also nominated for this week's honor are: Marco Donadel (Montreal), Sebastian Gionvico (Toronto FC), Jason Johnson (Chicago) and Lloyd Sam (Red Bulls).
Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. PT Thursday.
