New York City FC midfielder Tommy McNamara has been voted by the fans as the Etihad Airways Player of the Month for June.
The 24-year-old midfielder had a memorable month, highlighted by a pair of goals, including his first in over a year. McNamara had a beautiful shot from distance in the 53rd minute of the 2-1 win at Philadelphia on June 6. The strike was named Major League Soccer Goal of the Week.
McNamara doubled his season tally by scoring the fastest goal in New York City FC history in the 3-1 loss to the Red Bulls on June 28. He showed deft control to bring the ball down off his chest and one-time his shot past Luis Robles in the sixth minute to bring down the house at Yankee Stadium.
McNamara has come into his own in recent weeks, starting the last five matches. The Club is 4-1-0 during that stretch.
Also nominated for Etihad Airways Player of the Month for June were: forward David Villa and midfielder Kwadwo Poku.
