For the first time in his career, defender RJ Allen has been named the Etihad Airways Player of the Month for May.

The 26-year-old played five matches in May and started in four of them. Allen collected two assists and has moved to left back filling in for Ronald Matarrita who is currently playing in Copa America. One of Allen’s assist came against Orlando City on May 29 when he helped teammate Frederic Brillant score his first MLS Goal. For his efforts, Allen was named to MLS Team of the Week for week 13.
Also Nominated for April’s player of the month honor were midfielder Tommy McNamara and forward David Villa.
