New York City Football Club is pleased to confirm that forward Santiago Rodríguez has been awarded Etihad’s Player of the Month for March.
The Uruguayan played five times in MLS for NYCFC in March and helped the team secure four points with his performances.
A creative fulcrum in the final third, Rodríguez notched his first goal of the campaign against Portland Timbers at Yankee Stadium in early March. His composed finish handed City a first-half lead as they narrowly fell 2-1 to the Timbers.
Rodríguez was again on the scoresheet seven days later, this time producing an equalizer against Toronto FC. His stunning freekick turned the game on its head and set City on their way to claiming all three points thanks to a 2-1 score line.
The 24-year-old finished off the month with another strong performance against Inter Miami CF at Chase Stadium. City claimed a valuable road point in Miami, and while Rodríguez did not manage to get on the scoresheet, he proved a constant threat throughout the contest.
An industrious and talented playmaker, Rodríguez is a worthy winner, and the Club would like to congratulate Santi on this achievement.
