Here are just some of the reasons why you should make the trip…
Debuts
The 2018 season starts here and a whole host of new faces could be lining up for Patrick Vieira’s side, including Saad Abdul-Salaam, Jo Inge Berget, Cedric Hountondji, Jesus Medina, Ebenezer Ofori, Brad Stuver, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Anton Tinnerholm.
New looks for a new campaign…
Last Time
NYCFC ended a run of two games without a victory over KC with the 1-0 victory over Vermes’ men in 2017.
Jack Harrison came up with the 84th minute winning goal on that dramatic night in the Bronx but the Boys in Blue will need a new hero this year after Harrison joined Man City in the offseason.
On Opposite Sides
Two players are set for immediate reunions on opposite sides of this particular rivalry.
Khiry Shelton and Abdul-Salaam traded places in the offseason and, poetically, could face off against one another in new colors.
Revenge Mission
Last time we played at the Children’s Mercy Park, it was a grueling affair for Vieira and his charges.
Frank Lampard equalized for the Boys in Blue early on but it was a game that ended in disappointment as City went down 3-1.
Will it be a different story this time around?
Dangerman
Gerso could be the player to watch for NYCFC on Sunday – he was KC’s top-scorer in 2017, with eight goals in 33 appearances.
They also brought in former Premier League star Kenwyne Jones from Atlanta in the offseason, so the Trinidadian could be another one to keep a close eye on.
Make a Weekend of It
Those who love the great outdoors will find plenty to enjoy in Kansas, with open prairies and wildlife parks to visit, as well as charming small towns throughout the state.
There’s also the Cosmosphere Space Museum, the Strataca Mine and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library in and around Kansas for culture vultures looking to really maximize their times in the Sunflower State.
Each City Member or Supporter may receive (1) $10 ticket for every full season seat or supporter membership on their account, whichever is greater.
They may not be combined. Any additional requested tickets would be at full cost.
