Competitive Spirit

“It’s a bit of a rollercoaster…”

When New York City’s Football Club walked off the pitch at Gillette Stadium last night, they were yet to be crowned Eastern Conference champs, and although the effort and game-plan was there, the Boys in Blue failed to convert their chances and had their mistakes punished by a now-playoff bound New England Revolution.

The 2-0 loss left the team disappointed, but attentions soon shifted towards the happenings in Columbus.

Shoutout to Columbus.

A 2-0 victory over Philadelphia Union means NYC are regular season Eastern Conference champions with one match left to play in Season 5.

The City Boys watched on their cell phones intently up until the final whistle, and the celebrations in the away locker room grew to the level of a team accomplishing their first big objective on the road to greater MLS Cup dreams.

Champions League

Along with the first-round bye and homefield advantage throughout the MLS Cup Playoffs run, NYCFC have earned a first-ever berth in the CONCACAF Champions League – a competition pitting the best teams from across the region against each other for the right to be crowned champion of North America and compete in the Club World Cup.

The tournament is sure to serve up some tantalizing matchups at home and on the road, so get excited and start planning accordingly!

Not Done Yet

As the City Boys emptied out of Patriot Place, the celebrations had calmed a bit and one consistent theme took hold: “Not done yet.”

While the entire club was ecstatic to celebrate what has already become a special season, the players knew that after a few days off it was time to get back to work with dreams of bigger celebrations to come.

With the conference clinched and several players working through fitness tests, it’s anybody’s guess what the team will look like this weekend. However, one thing is for sure, as per the club’s DNA, the team on the pitch will try to win beautifully.

It’s almost playoff time - and road to the final will go through the Greatest City in the World.
