Former New York City FC academy midfielder Dante Polvara has been selected as a finalist for the 2021 men's MAC Hermann Trophy.

The MAC Hermann Trophy dates back to 1967 and remains one of the most prestigious individual honors in NCAA Division I soccer. Polvara was nominated as a semifinalist for the award last year, and has managed to go one step further in 2021.

This comes after a strong season for the midfielder during which he recorded seven goals and six assists for Georgetown University. That form saw him recognized by United Soccer Coaches after they selected him in the All-America first team alongside another former NYCFC academy graduate and Georgetown teammate Will Sands.

“Dante played a pivotal role in the founding years of the academy playing on both U19 National Championship winning teams,” Performance Phase Lead Matt Pilkington said. “He has continued to develop in the college system and has a bright future ahead. Everyone at the Club is incredibly proud of Dante and this achievement and would like to congratulate him on another strong season with Georgetown.”

This year’s winners will be announced on Jan. 7, 2022, at the MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
