Buckingham Palace | New York City FC’s Frank Lampard was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) this afternoon in London for his service to football. He was presented with the honor by The Duke of Cambridge and President of the FA, Prince William.
Lampard spent 20 seasons in the English Premier League, the majority with Chelsea Football Club, where he scored a club record 211 goals in all competitions. Lampard also earned 106 caps for England, scoring 29 times for the national team.
Upon learning of the honor in June, Lampard stated, “I feel very fortunate to have had such a long and fulfilling career in football. This is an extremely proud moment for myself and my family.”
Lampard played 10 games for New York City FC in their inaugural season; he scored three goals and registered an assist in his MLS debut.
