Gray & Scally's U.S. U-17s Qualify for World Cup

U-17 Qualified

NYCFC Academy duo Joe Scally and Tayvon Gray have the U-17 USMNT heading to the World Cup.

The defenders had their numbers called in April to report national team duty on Raphaël Wicky's USYNT squad. They headed to Florida to begin their 2019 CONCACAF Tournament Campaign in the beginning of May, defeating Canada, Barbados, and Guatemala in the group stage.

They then skated past Guadeloupe in the Round of 16 to advance to the Quarterfinals to face off against Panama.

The U-17s maintained their winning ways and defeated Panama 3-0 to advance to the Semi-finals and clinch their World Cup Birth berth, a privilege reserved for the final four remaining teams.

NYCFC's Homegrown signing, Scally earned four starts in Wicky's XI, while Gray started in two. Both of them earned the start against Panama helping their team advance in the competition and punch their ticket for a chance to represent their crest on the main stage in Brazil.

With five wins under their belts, the U-17s are gearing up to play Canada for the second time this tournament tonight at 5:30 p.m. EST. The winner of the match advances to the 2019 CONCACAF final. In their previous meeting the USYNT was down by two at halftime, they pulled off a huge comeback scoring three goals in the second half coming away with a 3-2 win.

Stay tuned as we keep you updated on how NYCFC Academy's Gray and Scally perform in the tournament this Fall!
