New York City FC today announced that the Club will part ways with Head Coach Pascal Jansen.

Jansen joined New York City FC in January 2025 and guided the Boys in Blue to the Eastern Conference Final in his first season. Despite a strong 2025 campaign, New York City FC fell short of expectations in 2026, failing to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs for only the third time in Club history.

“We would like to thank Pascal for his commitment and contributions to New York City FC and wish him and his family all the best,” said Sporting Director Todd Dunivant. “This decision follows a thorough review of the season and reflects our ambition as an organization. The search for our next Head Coach begins immediately as we prepare for the 2027 Sprint Season and build toward the opening of Etihad Park.”

In 2025, Jansen led the Club to a fifth-place finish in the Eastern Conference, followed by an 11th-place finish this season.

“We are grateful for Pascal’s dedication during his time with the Club,” said CEO Brad Sims. “We recognize the disappointment of missing the playoffs, and I’d like to thank our fans for their incredible support. As we look ahead to an exciting and historic new chapter for the Club next year, our commitment to consistently competing at the highest level and bringing more trophies to New York City remains unchanged.”

Everyone at New York City FC thanks Pascal for his contributions to the Club.
