Venezuela’s excellent start to the FIFA U20 World Cup continued in Korea on Monday night as they romped to a 7-0 victory over Vanuatu.
NYCFC’s Yangel Herrera once again captained the side to the win, playing all 90 minutes of a one-sided game in Daejeon which qualified his nation for the Last 16.
That leaves Venezuela top of Group B with a perfect record following their 2-0 triumph over Germany on the first matchday.
The Vinotinto had to wait until the 30th minute for their first goal against the Pacific Islanders which was given to them by Williams Velasquez.
That opened the floodgates for Venezuela as they piled on five more goals, including a brace from Sergio Cordova and goals from Adalberto Penaranda, Jan Hurtado, Samuel Sosa and Wuilker Farinez.
With their place in the knockout rounds assured, Venezuela complete group play with a game against Mexico on Friday.
