New York City Football Club is pleased to confirm that midfielder James Sands has been selected to represent the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) at the upcoming Gold Cup.
Sands made his USMNT in July 2021 during the same competition and will be hoping to repeat his previous success. He was handed a 14-minute cameo against Haiti before going on to play every available minute as the U.S. beat Mexico in the final.
The native of Rye, New York, was afforded a second inclusion in September as part of World Cup qualifiers, which included an appearance during a 4-1 victory against Honduras.
The 22-year-old has now been named as part of interim coach B.J. Callaghan's squad as they prepare for their opening game against Jamaica on June 24.
The Club would like to congratulate James on his inclusion in the squad and wish him good luck ahead of the tournament.
