New York City Football Club is pleased to confirm that midfielder James Sands has been selected to represent the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) against Mexico later this month.
Sands made his USMNT in July 2021 after being selected to Gregg Berhalter's Gold Cup roster. He was handed a 14-minute cameo against Haiti before going on to play every available minute as the U.S. beat Mexico in the final.
Handed a second call-up in September as part of World Cup qualifiers, he earned his next appearance for the U.S. during a 4-1 victory against Honduras.
The 22-year-old has now been named as part of interim coach Anthony Hudson's squad to take on El Tri later this month, with the game scheduled for April 19.
The Club would like to congratulate James on his inclusion in the squad and wish him good luck ahead of the game.
