New York City Football Club are pleased to confirm that Jonathan Shore has been named to the 2023 MLS Next All-Star roster.
The 16-year-old has enjoyed an impressive year with the Club after signing his first professional contract in March this year.
Born and raised in New York City, Shore joined the NYCFC Academy in 2017 at the age of 10 from Manhattan Kickers and has progressed through the various age groups.
A regular fixture for the Club’s U17 Academy team, the young American made his MLS NEXT Pro debut last season making two appearances for NYCFC II. He has made a further three appearances for Matthew Pilkington’s side in 2023, and will now prepare himself for the game next month.
Speaking on Shore’s inclusion, Academy Director Morten Grahn said.
“We are happy for Jonny to get the opportunity to play in the MLS Next All-star match. Johnny has had a very intense and exciting year. I think Jonny is a very good example of how fast things can change in youth development if you consistently work hard and are dedicated to developing your talent.
“Last year Jonny played for our U15 team and has also spent time with the first team. This year he is part of our talented NYCFC II team and signed a professional contract, as well as traveling with the United States Youth National Team to Japan.
“His inclusion in the MLS Next All-star game is recognition of both the Club’s hard work as well as Jonny’s and we wish him good luck ahead of the game.”
