NYCFC vs Orlando City Keys to Match

It’s back to the Bronx for the final 90 minutes of what has been a big week for New York City’s Football Club. These are the keys to making it three-for-three wins, presented by Tri-State Ford…

Two for Two

So far this week your Boys in Blue have earned six points from the first two victories of the season, one on the road and one at home.

While the wins coming was never a concern for the players and the staff, seeing the points start to stack up in increments of three should give everyone the boost they need to beat the opponent and the fatigue on Saturday.

Now that those boxes are ticked, the only way is to keep going up.

Quick Turnaround Again

Another one! But the injury news is okay, with only Ronald Matarrita listed as “out”, and Alexandru Mitriță listed as “questionable” as we head into Saturday’s early 1PM kick-off vs. our 2015 expansion cousins.

Rest & recovery will be key, as Dome told his players to get good sleep and rest after putting the Fire out on Wednesday night.

The Bronx will surely be bouncing again – so pull up to help push us on to another win in the greatest city in the world.

Clean Sheets

In addition to the victories, it’s been two straight clean sheets as well for the Boys in Blue at the back - something sure to continue giving the strikers confidence moving forward.

The response from Sean Johnson after the first half in Minnesota was impressive, now even better, and reflective of his post-match comments on that day that the team will band together and become stronger.

Let’s see if City’s staunch defense can continue.

Nani No-No

In order for that clean sheet streak to continue, NYC will need to put the clamps on Orlando’s newest global star and captain, Portuguese winger Nani, who combined with Sacha Kljestan to give Orlando City a late 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps at home last weekend.

Kljestan has had success vs. City in the past, registering a league-leading 10 assists vs. our squad since entering the league in 2015.

Let’s protect our house.

Conference Crown

The kicker on this three-match in seven-day stretch, all come against Eastern Conference opponents, so the opportunity to keep climbing up the table is even greater.

NYC currently sit in seventh, just ahead of the early playoff line and even on points with sixth-place Orlando.

Depending on how it all shakes out across the league, we could be up to the second place spot by the end of the week.

Let’s keep trending up!
