New York City FC are on the road against Chicago Fire on Wednesday night.
Here’s the Keys to the Match, presented by Tri-State Ford…
Shake It Off
Last week was a tough one for everyone connected to the club.
The message is simple, the message is clear, shake it off and move forward. Wednesday is about resetting the mind and attacking what remains of the season, with big prizes still to play for.
Striker Swap
The news that Taty Castellanos will miss Wednesday’s game against Chicago Fire was not ideal, but in his absence, there is an opportunity for one of the club’s other strikers to step in.
Talles Magno was given the chance to lead the line against FC Dallas, and performed admirably, while the return of Héber to competitive action has been a welcome sight. Ronny Deila has remained consistent in his use of a one striker system this season, but he may see Wednesday as a chance to change things up.
Either way, NYCFC will have a new look on in attack on Wednesday, and that will give us an opportunity to learn more about the team’s options in the final third as we head into a key period of the season.
Keep Building
NYCFC’s form away from home has been a theme of the 2021 season, but in recent weeks they’ve produced two good performances in.
That saw them earn a 2-1 success against FC Cincinnati and a draw against Red Bulls. The meeting with Chicago Fire earlier in the season was a frustrating affair in which both teams struggled to create chances of note.
The Boys in Blue enter tomorrow’s game in a different headspace, and their focus must now be on continuing this upturn in form on the road as they look to secure points and cement their position in the playoff spots.
