We Back

It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t have left you, left you etc etc.

It’ll have been around 1,900,800 seconds since the Boys in Blue last took to the field at 3pm on Sunday, but who’s counting?

The international break (and then some) has been brutal for those of us missing our fix of NYCFC and we’re back in the best way possible, with a mouthwatering matchup vs. a resurgent DC United.

Form Team

To say Wayne Rooney has had a transformative effect on the fortunes of Ben Olsen’s DC would be a gross understatement.

England’s record goalscorer was at it again in midweek, rolling back the years with a stunning free-kick to defeat the reigning champions Toronto.

That win meant that United are now unbeaten since September 1 (6W 2 D) – the longest such ongoing streak, racking up 20 points which is five more than any other team.

It’s going to be a tough one.

Last Time

These teams met at Yankee Stadium back at the start of DC’s unbeaten run, sharing a 1-1 draw.

Despite DC possessing just 31% of the ball, it took a late David Villa equalizer for the Boys in Blue to stop the visitors from leaving with all three points, as City wasted a number of good opportunities to win it.

Our task won’t be made any easier by the absentees… Jo Inge Berget and Maxi Moralez are both out of action for this one but Domènec Torrent can welcome back some key pieces…

Yangel’s Return

You read that right.

When Yangel Herrera suffered an ankle injury in Houston at the start of the summer, it looked like his second season at NYCFC was over before it really began but the Venezuelan has fought tirelessly to get back and aid the team again in 2018.

Coming off the injury report, Dome told reporters Herrera could be good for 20+ minutes on Sunday – perfect timing for the postseason.

Welcome back.

Everywhere We Go

We’re expecting a big traveling crowd for the relatively short trip to the nation’s capital which should help inspire Torrent’s men onto a strong performance.

All season long, our road warriors have taken to the skies, to the road and to the stands to be there wherever our Boys in Blue take to the field across the country.

“Everywhere We Go” has been the mantra and we’re excited to hear you bring the noise for the final time in the Regular Season before we push into the postseason.

See you there.
