Repeat Performance
For the first time in a Hudson River Derby – City will walk into Red Bull Arena knowing what 3 points feels like on the other side of the Hudson.
NYCFC had a successful spell last season, winning for the first away derby in 2-0 thanks to goals from Jack Harrison and Ben Sweat, on the way to winning the 2017 MLS Derby series with a record of 2-0-1.
The confidence that comes with being there before, coupled with NYCFC’s recent road form, bodes well as preparations continue for the weekend.
Road Blues
New York City has played more road games than home so far this season, but it’s working out just fine.
By maintaining a perfect record at Yankee Stadium, NYCFC has been able to add to the point total which has catapulted them to the top of the Supporters Shield standings.
With an Eastern Conference best (2-1-2) record so far, road points will continue to be of massive importance in City’s search for trophies this season in the league and beyond…
Everywhere We Go
A major key to our road success is the travelling supports that follow us #EverywhereWeGo.
With road trips to Kansas City, New England, San Jose, Portland, and Atlanta already this season, City supporters are surely relishing the short trip to Harrison, where 600 plus of their blue clad friends will join them in the upper deck of Red Bull Arena to push on the Boys in Blue.
Let’s bring the noise for the city.
City Center
Squad depth and the next-man-up mentality have been reasons to smile so far throughout the 2018 season – but it’s always a sight for sore eyes when the vice-captain looks to be back in the heart of the defense for the biggest match of the year.
Maxime Chanot is back at the Etihad City Football Academy after missing out on last weekend’s match due to a personal matter – meaning the dynamic duo of Chanot and Alex Callens should be back together for one of the biggest matches of the season. Strong.
To Villa 400 and Beyond
Another day, another milestone for the great David Villa. But if there’s any question to how he has reached such heights, a lot can be gleaned from the behind the scenes footage of his locker-room speech after the FC Dallas game.
It’s about the next goal and the next win - “another win”, at Red Bull Arena.
