Ronald Matarrita has been named to CONCACAF’s Best XI of 2016.
The NYCFC left-back was recognized with a place in the best team of the year following an outstanding debut season at Yankee Stadium.
Ronald is one of only two Major League Soccer player on the list after the 22-year old played a huge role for club and country over the past 12 months.
For NYCFC, Matarrita featured in 25 games in 2016 and earned the team’s Defensive Player of the Year award.
Mata has also enjoyed a great start to the Hexagonal section of FIFA World Cup qualifying with Costa Rica, chalking up a goal and an assist in wins over Trinidad and Tobago and USA.
Brian Ruiz and Alex Morgan were named men’s and women’s Player of the Year respectively.
