New York City FC had a Saturday night meeting with FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium. Jaap Stam’s side would take an early lead through Brenner, but Keaton Parks would restore parity in the 37th minute. NYCFC would take the lead thanks to a Taty Castellanos penalty, and after two red cards for the hosts, NYCFC would run out winners and secure a big three points.

New York City FC were hunting for a victory on Saturday night as they took on Jaap Stam’s FC Cincinnati.
Head Coach Ronny Deila handed Chris Gloster his first MLS start since joining the club, while Maxime Chanot, Alfredo Morales, and Taty Castellanos came into the side for Alex Callens, Nicolás Acevedo, and Talles Magno.
The hosts started the better of the two sides and that saw them find the net after just four minutes after Chanot’s attempted clearance landed at the feet of Brenner to convert.
At the other end, Chanot almost found himself on the scoresheet after his effort from distance ended up just over the crossbar.
NYCFC thought they were back in the game not long after when a bouncing ball fell to Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, but his volleyed effort flew just wide of the post.
The Libyan international would get a similar chance in the 18th minute, and this time he managed to get his effort on target, only for Przemysław Tytoń to tip it wide.
The Boys in Blue were growing into the game and their domination told in the 37th minute after a delightful cross from Gudi Thórarinsson found the head of Keaton Parks.
The goal would inspire NYCFC to further chances and they almost took the lead in the 42nd minute when a deflected effort by Tajouri-Shradi clipped the underside of the crossbar.
At the other end, a curling effort from Luciano Acosta came close, but not enough to trouble Sean Johnson.
The arrival of the second period brought with it a change for NYCFC with Gloster being replaced by homegrown Andres Jasson - the youngster proving a threat on the dribble from right-back.
Cincinnati thought they had taken the lead for the second time early in the half, but after consulting with VAR the play was called back for offside.
Instead, it would be NYCFC that went ahead after defender Geoff Cameron felled Castellanos in the penalty area.
The 22-year-old would step up to take the kick and rifled it down the middle of the goal to secure his 12th in MLS this season.
The home side were now desperate to find an equalizer, and substitute Brandon Vazquez came closer with a header that clipped the outside of the post.
Ronny Deila introduced his second substitute of the game in the 71st minute, introducing defender Alex Callens in place of Jesús Medina.
Things were beginning to heat up, and Johnson was forced to tip a shot from Brenner onto the post. As the clock ticked down Deila turned again to his in the 83rd minute, introducing Malte Amundsen and Nicolás Acevedo in place of Thórarinsson and Morales.
Not long after Álvaro Barreal was dismissed for a lunging tackle on Jasson. The 89th minute would see a further change for NYCFC as Tajouri-Shradi departed to be replaced by Tony Rocha.
Frustrated by the scoreline, Cincinnati would be reduced to nine men in the fifth minute of injury time after a reckless tackle from Isaac Atanga on Maxi Moralez.
That would bring an end to the game, and confirm a 2-1 win for NYCFC - their first road win since May.
