New York City FC were on the road this weekend as they took on New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. The Boys in Blue took an early lead after a well worked goal allowed Santiago Rodríguez to convert. They were unfortunately pegged back in the 21st minute by Ema Boateng. NYCFC were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Alfredo Morales collected his second yellow card. The hosts then took the lead through substitute Tajon Buchanan.

New York City FC had an away day against New England Revolution on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
Head Coach Ronny Deila opted to make several changes to the side that lost to Nashville SC, with Talles Magno and Thiago Andrade replacing the suspended duo of Maxi Moralez and Jesús Medina.
Elsewhere, James Sands and Maxime Chanot replaced Vuk Latinovich and Nicolás Acevedo.
NYCFC had their first look at goal after just three minutes when Taty Castellanos fired an effort from distance that Matt Turner was forced to tip around the post.
The Boys in Blue would take the lead in the 11th minute after a well-worked move from front to back saw Castellanos collect the ball from Talles on the right.
The Argentine drove inside before chipping a delightful pass into the path of the onrushing Santiago Rodríguez – the Uruguayan knocking it past Turner in goal.
Unfortunately, he would be forced off not long after due to a hamstring complaint and replaced by Andres Jasson.
The Revolution would not be behind for long, however, and in the 21st minute a deflected cross landed at the feet of Ema Boateng and he slotted it past Sean Johnson.
Both sides had sustained periods of possession as the half wore on, and New England might have felt they had the perfect chance to take the lead in the 39th minute when a low cross found its way to Tommy McNamara at the back post, but his effort cannoned off the crossbar.
The second period started at a frenetic pace, and in the 53rd minute, Alfredo Morales collect a second yellow card reducing the road team to 10 players for the second week in a row.
In response, Deila turned to his bench and introduced Acevedo in place of Talles – which saw NYCFC switch to a 4-4-1 formation.
The hosts would take the lead in the 65th minute when Carles Gil found Tajon Buchanan in space and he fired it into the far corner. Sensing the need for change, Deila introduced Ismael Tajouri-Shradi for Castellanos in the 75th minute.
The Boys in Blue continued to push for an equalizer, but they found a determined New England defense in their way. At the other end, a mix-up with Johnson required a goalline clearance from Acevedo to keep the score at 2-1.
In the end Buchanan's goal would prove decisive and confirmed a 2-1 loss for NYCFC on the road.
