Maxi Moralez has been called to rep New York City FC in the 2019 MLS All-Star Game, presented by Target, against Atletico Madrid on July 31 at Exploria Stadium.
The midfielder was named to the 26-man All-Star roster led by Orlando City SC's Head Coach, James O'Connor.
Although the playmaker has been pivotal to NYCFC in his two and a half seasons in blue, this is his first ever MLS All-Star call. His performances this season caught the attention of O'Connor to earn one of his 13 coaches' picks.
The Argentine playmaker joined City in 2017 and has appeared in 81 matches in all competitions to date. He has scored 17 goals and recorded 37 assists in his three seasons with the team.
Sending a player off to the compete as an All-Star is not a new feat for NYCFC. David Villa was selected to every All-Star game since 2015 up until his departure. Alex Ring, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard have also made singular appearances for the MLS All-Stars.
