Welcome back to My Favorite Player, which returns for the season.
It’s time to find out who inspired Jonathan Lewis to achieve the levels he’s reached to become a professional soccer player.
So far we’ve learned the favorite players of Jack Harrison (Ronaldinho), Khiry Shelton (Thierry Henry),Ethan White (Carles Puyol), Ronald Matarrita (Ronaldo),Sean Okoli (Zlatan Ibrahimovic), Sean Johnson (Edwin van der Sar), Tommy McNamara (Stephen McPhail) and Shannon Gomez (Phillip Lahm).
Today, it’s Lewis’s turn and he goes for the reigning Ballon d’Or holder.
It’s Cristiano Ronaldo…
Jon on Cristiano Ronaldo…
“Cristiano Ronaldo – I like his flair, he’s expressive on the field and he scores goals. He works very hard, he’s a character and he’s a role model for how far hard work can take you.”
Cristiano Ronaldo: Force of Nature
As Jon hinted, some players are touched by the hand of genius and are always destined to be greats, some have to work a little harder at it.
Cristiano Ronaldo is somebody who had supreme talent from very early on in his career when he was just a boy from Madeira, making his way through the Sporting Clube de Portugal youth ranks.
Ever since, he has undoubtedly wrung every drop of talent out himself, transforming from the slight, fey Manchester United winger to the physical specimen he is now.
With frankly ridiculous goalscoring numbers at Real Madrid, he’s one of the two best players of his generation and has won practically every major honor the game has to offer, including the Ballon d’Or on four occasions.
To date, Cristiano has scored more than 500 professional goals.
Status Update
Still only 32, Ronaldo continues to be a key component in the Real Madrid team which has won the UEFA Champions two years out of the last three.
