Ned Grabavoy Named to Major League Soccer Team of the Week for Week 29 -

New York City FC midfielder Ned Grabavoy has been named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Week for Week 29, the league announced.

Andrea Pirlo has been named to the bench of the Team of the Week, while head coach Jason Kreis has been named Coach of the Week.

Grabavoy scored the first two goals of his New York City FC career in the Club's 3-2 victory over San Jose on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Grabavoy slotted home his first in the 51st minute off a lovely give-and-go with captain David Villa (who scored the match winner in the 65th). Grabavoy recorded his first brace since 2013 with a header off Frank Lampard's cross from the right in the 63rd minute to double the home side's advantage.

It was Grabavoy's first goal since Oct. 11, 2014 and his first brace since May 19, 2013.

Pirlo had a pair of assists in New York City FC's 2-0 win over Toronto FC on Sept. 16. The Italian floated a ball over the top that RJ Allen flicked back to Lampard at the top of the 18-yard box that the midfielder put home for his first goal with the Club. Pirlo's corner kick in the 77th minute was headed home by Patrick Mullins to seal all three points in the mid-week match.

New York City FC has won three of their last four matches at Yankee Stadium following the two victories during Week 29.

The Club returns to action on Saturday against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Kickoff is 10 p.m. ET from BC Place (YES Network, WQBU).
