The New York City FC Academy played to a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid’s Academy Team on Tuesday at the Ciudad Real Madrid, Real Madrid’s training facility. The NYCFC Academy maintained possession of the ball for most the game. The match was a friendly leading up to the 1st Internacional e-Soccer Cup Tournament which starts on Thursday. The NYCFC Academy had a training session on Monday in preparation for Tuesday’s match.
New York City FC Youth Technical Coordinator Rodrigo Marion talked with NYCFC.com and shared his thoughts on how the team played.
"We are very pleased with the performance of the team. Our players played an excellent game against an outstanding team. This game against Real Madrid motivates the group and prepares us for the tournament.”
The Team arrived earlier this week in Madrid, Spain and is prepared for the tournament with a healthy roster.
The NYCFC Academy is now at La Ciudad del Futbol de Las Rozas, the training grounds for Spain's National Team. Teams from Norway, Japan and Turkey are also at the facility and the New York City FC Academy has been socializing and connecting with the players from those teams.
The NYCFC Academy will face two teams on Thursday to start the tournament.
