Ryan Meara was called into action on April 24 against the Chicago Fire.
The goalkeeper, who is on a season-long loan from the New York Red Bulls, started for New York City FC in replace of Josh Saunders (suspension). The 24-year-old from Yonkers was making his first start in Major League Soccer since July 8, 2012.
Meara had seven saves in the New York City FC's 1-0 loss to Chicago at Toyota Park. He was at his best during a three-save flurry in the second half, with his first rejection a kick save on David Accam's diving header from 8 yards out.
