New York City FC will face DC United Friday at 7 p.m. ET (UniMás, AM970) in a battle for a playoff spot.
Friday will be the second time the two teams will meet, with New York City FC having won the previous matchup 3-1 on August 13. Managers Jason Kreis and Ben Olsen are deadlocked in their head-to-head record each winning two, drawing one, and losing two against the other.
Midfielder Frank Lampard has scored two goals in his last three matches and looks to help the Club extend their three-match winning streak.
"I think wins always bring out confidence and good spirits," Lampard said. "We came back from Vancouver very happy and we’re focused now, focused to keep the wins going. I think we’ve been playing better, we’re training well, and now it’s just a case of giving it a go." There’s not much to it other than that, it’s just to carry on and be ready for the game."
DC United comes into the match having earned one point from their last six games.
Andrew Jacobson will return to face the club that drafted him 24th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft where he made 17 appearances.
David Villa is still in the race for the MLS Golden Boot with 17 goals, ranking third behind Kei Kamara and Sebastian Giovinco.
The match will take place at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C.
