New York City FC II Sign Academy Product Peter Molinari to an MLS NEXT Pro Contract, With Path to Sign First Team Deal as a Homegrown

New York City FC II announced today that it has signed midfielder Peter Molinari to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2026. The academy standout will join the first team as a homegrown player on an MLS contract through the 2029 season, with an option through 2030.

“We are delighted to have signed Peter on a long-term deal, ensuring that his growth in the game happens here in New York,” said Sporting Director David Lee. “Peter is an extremely talented player with huge potential, and we’re excited to guide him in his development. Having seen various successful homegrowns come through our Academy and New York City FC II, we are confident that this is the best place for Peter to maximize his talent. New York City continues to bolster its youth ranks and this signing goes to show that the hard work of our Academy is paying dividends.”

The talented14-year-old joined New York City’s Academy in 2020 and participated in the U14 East Mallorca Cup and the Portimão International Cup in 2022. Most recently, Molinari competed in the U15 Academy friendlies, which were played in Manchester, England, in 2023.
