Sixty-four minutes and nine seconds.
That's how long 10-man New York City FC had to turn a two-goal deficit into a positive result.
That's exactly what the Club did.
New York City FC rallied and turned what first appeared to be a disappointing loss into a vital 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire on May 15. The Club hopes to build off of that result tonight against Real Salt Lake.
"It's going to take an effort like we had in the last 70 minutes this past weekend," defender Chris Wingert said. "We'll need that for a full 90 minutes. They're coming off a loss and they're going to be refocused. I know as well as anybody they have a really talented team and they're always looking for three points at home. We're going to have our hands full for sure."
Wingert, the only player to play every minute of every game so far this season for New York City FC, played at Real Salt Lake from 2007-14. The team won the 2009 MLS Cup and finished runners up to Sporting Kansas City in 2013.
Defensive Inconsistency
Real Salt Lake began the 2015 season with a stingy defense. RSL allowed just five goals through their first six matches, while going 2-1-3 with a three-match unbeaten stretch.
Then came a 4-0 loss at New England on April 25.
Since then, the club has gone 1-2-2 while allowing 10 goals in five matches.
"I really just want us to find some consistency," captain Kyle Beckerman said on the Bill & OC Show on ESPN 700 earlier this week. "I think that’s the main thing you’ve got to look for. Whether you win, lose or draw, if you have good performances and you’re playing well, that’s something to build off of."
