NYCFC (11-8-8) are currently second in the East, two points behind Toronto FC, but just one point in front of the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union. On Sunday night at Camping World Stadium, NYCFC lost to Orlando City SC, 2-1, with Steven Mendoza scoring the lone goal off the rebound of a saved shot by Frank Lampard. The loss snapped NYCFC’s four-match unbeaten streak.
NYCFC, which still has the league’s best road form with a 6-5-3 record, returns to Yankee Stadium where they have won their last four games and are 4-1-1 in their last six in the Bronx.

D.C. United (7-8-11) is just above the playoff line in the East with 32 points, one in front of Orlando City SC. They are currently enjoying their best run of form of the season and are unbeaten in six straight games after a 6-2 win over the Chicago Fire Saturday night.
Former NYCFC forward Patrick Mullins netted a hat trick, Luciano Acosta had one goal and three assists and Patrick Nyarko and Nick DeLeon added one goal apiece as D.C. United matched a club record set two other times for goals scored in a match.
This is the second of three meetings between the Eastern Conference rivals this season with NYCFC claiming a 2-0 win at RFK Stadium on May 8 as David Villa and Khiry Shelton scored four minutes apart early in the second half.
The clubs split a pair of games a year ago with Villa also scoring in a 3-1 win at Yankee Stadium on August 13, 2015 and Frank Lampard scored the lone goal in a 2-1 loss at RFK Stadium on Oct. 2, 2015.
