After defeating Philadelphia at home, NYCFC knocked off the Sounders 2-0 at CenturyLink Field Saturday for their league-leading fourth road victory of the year.
ā€œI watched the game again [Monday] and we played even better than I thought we played,ā€ NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira said. ā€œI was really pleased with how we conducted ourselves on the field, with and without the ball.ā€

NYCFC is currently second in the Eastern Conference, two points behind the Philadelphia Union and one point ahead of the Red Bulls, who are coming off a 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
Bradley Wright-Phillips put the Red Bulls in front on 52 minutes, but Ola Kamara leveled three minutes into stoppage time for the Crew.
The Red Bulls defeated NYCFC, 7-0, in the first of three meetings this season.
ā€œLike Iā€™m going to mention to the players, that was a one-off game,ā€ Vieira said. ā€œWhat I want, of course, is that result to be somewhere in our mind, but the main focus will be on ourselves, how we want to play, how weā€™re going to play, respecting our game plan. That will not change. Weā€™re going to concentrate on ourselves and how we can hurt them.ā€

Frank Lampard, who has scored in consecutive games for the second time in his Major League Soccer career, is also confident that things will be different come Saturday.

ā€œI know weā€™re not seven goals worst than them,ā€ Lampard said. ā€œWeā€™re a team that can beat them, itā€™s as simple as that. But we need to show it on the pitch.ā€
