Coming off a hard-luck 1-1 draw with the Montreal Impact, New York City FC returns to Yankee Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m. to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps. (YES | WFAN | WADO | International)
NYCFC was agonizingly close to its first win at Yankee Stadium this year, but settled for a share of the points after conceding in the first minute of second-half stoppage time.

NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira was encouraged about his team’s performance.
“I think the game you guys saw gave us massive hope,” Vieira said.
It was another game that saw NYCFC dominate statistically, keeping possession 55.6 percent of the game, winning 53.6 percent of duels and outshooting Montreal, 19-8. Yet, the Club was unable to hold on for that elusive home win.
“I think we are in a period where everything is going against us, but we will stick together,” Vieira said. “We will fight together and we’re going to turn it around because of the way we play.”

Vancouver is also coming off a 1-1 draw Wednesday night at home against Sporting KC. Christian Bolanos gave the Whitecaps the lead on 14 minutes, but Diego Rubio equalized 13 minutes later for the visitors.
Vancouver played the final 39 minutes down a man after Kendall Waston was sent off with a second yellow card.
A year ago in the only meeting between the sides, NYCFC defeated the Whitecaps, 2-1, at BC Place with Frank Lampard scoring in the first half and David Villa knocking in the winning penalty kick in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.

NYCFC will embark on a three-game road trip to take on D.C. United, the Portland Timbers and Toronto FC before returning home to host the rival New York Red Bulls May 21.
