New York City Football Club (NYCFC) today announced it has loaned Forward Gabriel Segal to Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club through June 30, 2024.
Sporting Director David Lee said: “This is a great opportunity for Gabe to continue his development in a highly competitive European competition. Gabe has had a strong rookie season with us and showed potential for the future, so we are excited for him to have the opportunity to gain First Team minutes with Hapoel Tel Aviv during the 23/24 season. We’d like to thank Gabe for his contributions to the Club this season and wish him the best in Israel.”
The Bethesda, Maryland native joined NYCFC in January 2023 from German club FC Köln. Throughout the 2023 MLS regular season, Segal made 10 appearances and scored two goals, both being stoppage time equalizers.
Forward Gabe Segal said: “New York City is a great Club that has given me a fantastic opportunity to grow and improve as a player this year. I am extremely grateful to the coaches, my teammates and the staff for everything that they have done for me, as well as to the fans who have been so generous with their support.
“I want to thank the Club for giving me the opportunity to join Hapoel Tel Aviv on loan, so I can continue to gain experience playing for a big Club in a competitive league. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to grow on-and-off the field. I will be rooting for NYCFC from abroad and look forward to rejoining everyone next year.”
