A new Major League Soccer campaign lies before us like some untrodden field of snow.
Will NYCFC better their second place finish from 2017 in season four? One man who’s determined to make it so is our newest recruit, Ebenezer Ofori.
The Ghanaian international midfielder became our eighth acquisition of the offseason this week and the New York Post ran the story on Wednesday.

On the move, Post reporter Kyle Schnitzer wrote: “With the MLS season starting in less than two weeks, New York City FC added another weapon to its midfield.
“The club announced it signed Ghanaian international Ebenezer Ofori on a season-long loan from VFB Stuttgart in Germany’s Bundesliga.
“NYCFC also have the option to purchase Ofori at the end of the 2018 season.
“Ofori, a holding midfielder, scored four goals in 81 appearances for AIK in Sweden before joining Stuttgart in the January transfer window in 2017. He appeared in nine matches, helping Stuttgart secure promotion from Germany’s second division back to the first division.”
Elsewhere, our upcoming 24 Hour Game at the Rockefeller Center, announced yesterday, has also captured media headlines.
The story reads: “New York City FC will hold a 24-hour, 5-a-side soccer game at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, which will give more than 500 people to play on the plaza and to be coach by City players and head coach Patrick Vieira.
“The match, which will pit Team Villa vs. Team Vieira, will kickoff Friday, March 9 at 4 p.m. and continue until Saturday, March 10.
“NYCFC FC’s home opener is against the LA Galaxy at Yankee Stadium Sunday, March 11.”

Looking further back, there’s a story from Charles Boehm on MLSSoccer.com which recalls the night Justin Haak became the toast of San Luis Potosi.
The lank-haired 16-year old Brooklynite was a huge hit with the Atletico San Luis fans, initially for his perceived likeness to Edinson Cavani, before he charmed the supporters with his assured late cameo.
Boehm scribed: “The teenager kept their attention by showing that he can ball a little bit, too. In contrast to Cavani, Haak usually plays a holding midfielder role, but in the game’s final stages he surged forward with the ball at his feet, leading an NYCFC counterattack and cheekily nutmegging a backtracking San Luis defender before passing to one of his teammates.”
