Nick Cushing and his side are focused on the task at hand as they welcome the Chicago Fire this weekend.

The Boys in Blue will go into Decision Day knowing there is a possibility of them finishing the evening above the playoff line.

That outcome will require results elsewhere to go their way along with a victory against Chicago. With that in mind, Cushing confirmed his side have spent the week focusing solely on claiming three points against the Fire.

“We want to get above the line,” he said.

“Regardless of that were have prepared all week to win a football game. For us, it's about playing at home and winning.

“It's about continuing the form that we had before the D.C. United game which was a disappointment.

“Like I say, all we can do is go out and make sure that we play well, we perform, and we win a football game and then hopefully the outcome swings our way.”

The Boys in Blue will host Chicago at Citi Field in Queens on Saturday evening.

Last season at the same venue the team hosted Inter Miami CF in the first round of the playoffs, and Cushing has called for that same atmosphere this weekend.

“I think we need a playoff atmosphere,” he said.

“We need the atmosphere that we had last year at Citi Field against Inter Miami. It was a tight first half of that game and I feel like the fans swung it in the second half. The fans really drove on the team.

“They really inspired the team, they supported the team to make sure that we went through and got the win to go through to the next round.

“Of course, we haven't been in this situation since I've been here - fighting on the last day to get in, but this is the situation that we're in.

“If we can get that playoff atmosphere and we can replicate what we had last year against Miami at Citi Field it gives us a real chance of putting in a performance and making sure we get the win.”

Cushing is also keen to deliver a positive performance for the Club’s supporters as the team closes out the Regular Season.

“We’ve planned all week to be aggressive, to play on the front foot, to make sure that irrelevant of what happened on Wednesday night and the situation we're in, we win for our fans in front of our fans,” he said.

“We make sure that we finish this season off whatever the outcome is, on a positive of a performance and winning a football game.”
