NYCFC Academy Product Vinicius Lansade has won the Division 1 National Championship with University of Maryland Terrapins.
Maryland took home its fourth NCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship with a 1-0 victory over Akron in the College Cup final Sunday night in Harder Stadium.
Lansade lifted his second national title of the season after the NYCFC U19s took home the US Soccer Development Academy Championship out in Kansas City, MO in July.
The Terrapins qualified for Sunday’s final after shutting out Indiana 2-0 in the semifinal on Friday. They conceded 0 goals and defeated three of the top six seeds on their way to glory. It is manager Sasho Cirovski’s third national title – where he has also coached former NYCFC players Patrick Mullins, John Stertzer, Ethan White and Rodney Wallace.
“Fear The Turtle” indeed.
Maryland also won titles in 2005, 2008, and shared a title with Michigan State back in 1968.
The forward out of Fairfield, Connecticut made 16 appearances on his Freshman season – highlighted by his first Terrapin goal vs. Penn State in a 3-2 victory back in October.
