NYCFC Defender Called Up to USMNT U17s

Academy Team Celebration 1

NYCFC have one representative in the latest U.S U17s squad.

Coach John Hackworth has called up James Sands to his 20-player roster for the 2016 Nike International friendlies.

The defender will vie for selection in games against Portugal, Turkey and Brazil.

Sands retains his place in the squad after appearing in the 2015 edition of the tournament in which the U.S went 1-2-0 – a series which included a 2-1 win against the Netherlands, the eventual runners-up.

Hackworth’s side get their competition under way later on today (Wednesday) against Portugal at 7pm ET.

All matches will broadcast live on ussoccer.com, U.S. Soccer’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
