The 89th Academy Awards take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles tonight!
To celebrate, we’ve asked a number of NYCFC stars for their favorite movies of all-time.
RJ Allen is our final contributor, following in the footsteps of Andrea Pirlo (The Hangover), Sean Johnson (Man on Fire),Maxime Chanot (Cinderella Man), Andre Rawls (Iron Man), John Stertzer (The Dark Knight) and Eirik Johansen (Avatar).
One more time with feeling!

“Mighty Ducks is my favorite movie – I loved hockey growing up. I was a big athlete growing up, played hockey as a young boy and I just really liked that movie.”
They Can’t Skate. They Can’t Win. They Can’t Be Serious.
We sign off our look at NYCFC’s favorite movies with a family favorite, starring Emilio Estevez and Joshua Jackson.
The Mighty Ducks is the story of a hot shot lawyer (Estevez) who is sentenced to community service coaching the worst peewee hockey team in the league.
Haunted by his own memories of missing the crucial penalty shot in a championship game, Estevez’s character is given the opportunity to exorcise his demons by turning around the fortunes of The Ducks.
Overcoming his initial reluctance, he transforms this rag tag bunch of kids who can hardly skate into a team capable of challenging his old team, the best in the league – but will they triumph? Well, you’ll have to watch and find out!
The Mighty Ducks was released in 1992, grossing $50m in the U.S alone, making it a surprise hit with audiences and spawning two sequels and an animated series.
A fine choice, RJ!
That’s it for this year’s NYCFC Oscars – let’s hope the real Academy Awards live up to our version!
