New York City FC enjoyed an excellent showing at the Generation adidas Cup qualifiers in Atlanta last weekend.
With spaces up for grabs in the Champions bracket for the finals tournament in Frisco, the U-17s knew that the three games against DC United, Red Bulls and the Philadelphia Union were vital for their qualification hope and the Boys in Blue did not disappoint.
The U-17s booked their place in the finals courtesy of victories over DC United, Philadelphia Union and Red Bulls, conceding just one goal in the three matches.
A 2-1 win over DC got the weekend off to a winning start before the Boys in Blue defeated Red Bulls 4-0 and Philadelphia 3-0 to cap a perfect record through three games.
Gio Reyna top scored for City with four goals across the three games, while Sal Razizzi got two and Jon Jiminez, David Alino and Andres Jasson all netted one apiece.
That left last year's Premier Division champions with a W5-L1-D0 record through six qualification games and punched their ticket to the Champions bracket in Texas.
City's U-15s also enjoyed a strong showing in Georgia, winning on penalties twice against Philadelphia and Red Bulls, following a 3-0 defeat in the opening game to DC.
Everyone at the club would like to congratulate all of our boys and the Academy staff on the teams' great performances throughout last weekend.

The Generation adidas Cup was founded in 2007 at the U-17 level, emphasizing player development while providing elite competition for MLS academies. Since then, the competition has built prestige as a premier youth tournament featuring the best clubs from around the world.
GA Cup participants are split into three qualifying regions — East, Central, West — with teams squaring off at least once in a round-robin for a total of six matches. The top two finishers in each region will advance to the Championship Division for the 2018 Generation adidas Cup proper in Frisco. Those clubs will be joined by top international talent as they battle for the Generation adidas Cup crown.
