New York City FC’s new City Football Academy training facility will help to create better professionals, according to Patrick Vieira.
NYCFC’s Head Coach is excited at the prospect of laying down roots in New York with the team’s first purpose-built, permanent structure in Orangeburg, Rockland County, due to open in early 2018.
The Frenchman believes that having a sense of “home” in the workplace is the best possible way to promote the philosophy and the kind of team spirit required to challenge for honors in the long term.
“It’s really exciting,” Vieira declared. “I strongly believe that as a young football club it’s extremely important to have our home facility where players can feel really comfortable to come every day."
“It will have a massive impact on our everyday basics, the way we’re going to train, to live, to build our team spirit – I’m really looking forward to it."
“When you have your own building and know you can do whatever wherever you want. That is how we’re going to create the spirit and philosophy we want."
“That will have an impact on the players as they will feel like they’re at home and that’s why it’s going to be really important for them. They need to spend time there – that’s why it will help them to improve themselves on and off the field."
“This facility will push players to spend time there – it will help the players to become better professionals.”
In this elite new facility, Vieira feels that coaching staff will be able to prepare for matches in more creative way than is currently possible.
To work without time limits, in a bespoke first-team center, the Head Coach hopes that more energy can be spent on finding new solutions to winning game, going beyond the basic fundamentals.
“Coaching players, this is where we’re going to spend most of our time,” Vieira explained.
“Because will get there early and can stay as long as we want, we can really plan for the long-term.
“We’re going to spend more time there than we will at home. That’s how we’re going to improve the results of the team – that’s why it’s so important to feel that sense of home.
“We can prepare for the game in a different way - it will allow us to be more creative in training and to do things we can’t do right now.
“I believe that will help the coaching staff to do a better job.”
