NYCFC secured back-to-back victories by overcoming LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center late on Saturday night.
Here are all of the key soundbites from the visitors’ locker room following the game…
Lewis on First Pro Goal…
“I just saw an open space and I knew someone was coming. I knew if I skipped past him, I would have some space. I saw that the keeper was off his line, so I tried it.”
Vieira on Lewis…
“We need to understand that he’s a young player. He needs time and games to develop himself but today he did what I was expecting. Particularly, he was well disciplined. He had a chance and he scored one of the nicest goals that we are going to see. Outside of the goal, I was happy with the way that he worked for the team.”
Johnson on The Zone…
"There was one save, might have been Gyasi's cutback that I tipped over, I just felt that nothing was going to beat me on the night. I didn't know the barrage was coming for the rest of the game after that but yeah. I was just locked in at that point."

Herrera on Fortitude…
"The most important thing today was the win. We had a great game, we did it together. We showed our fortitude as a team."
Shelton on J-Lew…
"It was a fantastic goal, he beat two players and ended up finishing it. It's something we've been wanting from him."
Johnson on USMNT Hopes…
“I spoke to [USMNT goalkeeper coach] Matt Reis after the game. He was here watching. I know Bruce and those guys are always watching games, so it’s not just this one, but it feels good to play a good game here in LA in front of those guys. I’m not really looking too far ahead to the national team, but obviously I want to be a part of that group and I got to keep doing what I can to make my case.”
Callens on Climbing to Second…
“Yes, the first time I believe. The most important thing is to maintain that. We can celebrate now but we have to think ahead to the New England match that is a must win.”
Villa on the Golden Boot Race…
“The most important thing for me is to score so the team can win. The team won today and I was able to score and I’m happy. But today we have to highlight the team’s defensive play because we were sensational in the back line.”

Ashley Cole on Luck…
“I think you make your own luck. Sometimes the ball hits you in the back of the head and it goes in the goal. Yeah, we’re kind of missing chances, but at home we need to change things.”
Jonathan Dos Santos on Defeat…
“It's that we are in a complicated situation, when we are in this bad run it is difficult to overcome. They had two chances and took advantage of both that were two very great goals but, they could have been prevented.”
Daniel Steres on Johnson…
“Their ‘keeper stood on his head tonight. I don’t know how many shots we had on target, but we had near 10, if not more. We just couldn’t find it. It’s just not going our way. They got a couple of shots and they get a couple of goals.”
