NYCFC came back to recover a deficit once again in Saturday’s 2-1 win over the reigning MLS champions.
Here are all of the key soundbites from the home locker room…
Vieira on Enjoyment…
"I was worried on the bench, to be honest but the more the game was going the more comfortable I was. You could see the way the game was going, the way we passed the ball around, we were making the right decisions.
"We played really well and I really enjoyed watching the team play today."
Villa on Comeback…
“We’re happy, we did so well today to come back in the game in bad conditions against a great team.
“We gave power, we did it with confidence, we did well so we are very happy.”
Okoli on Conditions…
“Sometimes you can’t predict how things are going to go on the field so, it’s not my first time playing on a pitch like that but first things first you got to be smart with your passes, especially with the field being like that. But, nothing new, nothing crazy for us but the important thing is we got the victory today.”
Harrison on Assist…
“I knew after David [Villa] had crossed the ball to me initially he’d be on the back post, so I kinda figured that’s where the space would be and I freed myself up some space and I managed to get a cross off and David finished it off perfectly.”
Chanot on Character…
“First of all, we have to be careful about the constant first goal, because it’s not easy to run after the score. But I think this season, we’ve got a group you can see on the pitch and you can see especially the last two games, we’ve better character and that’s why we’ve come back to the game like this one and like last week.”
Allen on Returning…
“It felt good to get those 90 minutes and to be back involved with the group. Now it’s just a matter of continuing to keep pushing. I need to improve in certain areas of the game but in the end we came away with three points.”
Villa on NY Derby…
“We need to work well this week against Red Bulls – it will be difficult in their home but we try to win there too and we’re working from Tuesday for that. I hope we have a great week and we can take the three points.”
