All of the key soundbites from the home and away locker rooms following NYCFC’s emphatic win over Orlando City…
Vieira on Victory...
"I’m really proud of the players because it wasn’t easy because traveling and playing the last two games where we didn’t get the result we wanted. I think today we came over here with a lot of personality, a lot of desire to compete and at the end we fully deserved to go back to New York with the three points."
Villa on Victory...
“We’re very happy with the match we played. We were better from the opening whistle to the final. We had more chances, more possession and we controlled the game. The team was very good, very compact, very together and we’re very happy with how the game went.”
Lopez on Starting the Game...
"It felt amazing just to get the nod from the coach, just to get his confidence and know he chose me to start the game. It felt really good to get back on the field again and play a full 90. It’s been a testing first half of the year from the surgery and all the recovery and therapy and just getting back to training and working my butt off to get here. I’m thankful that I was able to recover as quickly and as well as I did. It was just a blessing I was able to get back here and play another game."
Villa on Lopez...
“I think it’s fair to say Mikey helped out a lot today. He had a great game. It’s not easy because it’s painful because of the injury, he doesn’t have minutes and the coach chooses him today and he gave a lot to the team. He’s a really good guy. He’s always training with intensity. He doesn’t care if he plays or doesn’t play, he trains always the same. He’s a player we need in our roster. I’m so, so happy for him.”
Harrison on Cyle...
“Orlando were a great side and gave us a lot of trouble all the way up until [the second goal]. I think if Cyle would have scored that penalty it would have been a whole different story, but that’s just how the game goes sometimes. We’re a bit fortunate today and we took our chances.”
Jason Kreis on Defeat...
“Grave, grave disappointment to lose our first game in front of our home fans. I thought the fans were excellent again tonight. The atmosphere in the crowd was terrific. It’s one of those games where, I feel like, as stupid as this is to say, goals for me change games. It’s very cliché-ish, but I really felt like that was where we were at tonight.”
Kaka on Defeat...
“Five games without a win, so it’s … bothering us. So, we have all week to prepare for the next game.”
